Cheap Brakes
 

Hey I've been looking into upgrading my brakes since I've upgraded my power recently I've seen a few performance brands but they all seem pretty expensive such as these: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/wilw...E#.Wp6ExJPwZlM
I was wondering if there's any comparable alternatives to brakes like these that would be cheaper? Or is this about the best they get?

Do you also track or just daily drive? If later, then even with addition of forced induction stock brakes should be sufficient, as they are rather good for stock brakes and their thermal capacity limits usually are hit with heavy repetitious braking during short period of time. Here, i saved you $500 to $5K :)

If for track, my first choice would be essex sprint kit. Not THAT cheap, but one will save on wearables and kit will pay off for itself in year or two due cheaper pads/rotors.

Also your linked BBK is for WRX. While it should be boltable due mounting points being same, i'd advise against using kits designed for other cars, to not shift brake front-rear bias to not make braking worse. It may work acceptably, especially if used with nannies on and without pushing much, but i'd rather get "native" kit designed for twins with keeping bias somewhat same.

For anything less then a full on track car the stock brake system is more then sufficient. Upgrade your pads and rotors and your on your way.

If you search really hard you may find some cheap Chinese knockoffs. Brakes are probably the number one most important safety feature of you car though so do you really want to trust your life (and others) to cheap Chinese knockoffs?
As mentioned there is more to brakes than just size so just because they fit it does not mean they are better.

do you trust $10 brake pads and $3 brake fluid to haul you in from 140 mph?

Read the sticky brake upgrade thread and search around. There is a lot of info on the forums about upgrading brakes. Until you get to the point that you are wasting a set of brake pads in a few days at the track there is no reason to go BBK, it will not stop your car any better.

What kind of tires do you run?
What kind of driving do you do?
What's your budget?

A lot of people go about upgrading brakes the wrong way. You can do better than just looking for "cheap brakes!"

We identify the problem, identify what components are controlling that issue, and then identify what needs to provide a solution.
