Caliper paint recommendations?
 

Is there a particular brand of caliper paint that's recommended? I'd like to get my (stock) calipers painted red. I want something that will last a long time without flaking off or anything. Also wondering about how long it would take the paint to dry to where the calipers could be reinstalled and driven? I'd be looking to have this done at a shop while I wait, not doing it myself, so I don't want to be waiting forever while the paint dries. Would probably get it done during the same visit as getting new tires mounted and camber bolts installed and aligned so I guess at least parts of that could happen while the paint is drying.

Will painting them have a negative impact on performance or longevity? I want red calipers but I want to stick with stock brake system without harming the brakes in any way.

No impact if you do it right. It's just that painted stock calipers is the ultimate cheesy look.

A couple of use cases for when caliper paint looks good to me.
1. If you have a front BBK, but OEM rears, it doesn't hurt to paint the rears to match the fronts. OEMs do this quite often.

2. Painting both the fronts and rears black so that they don't detract from a nice set of wheels.

Really though, it's your car, so do whatever makes you happy.

Zero problems. Unless you pint the pistons for some odd reason.

But pretty much anything from any auto parts store would give you the same results you want. 3 or 4 coats would do it.

If you really want them to last forever, get them powder coated.

Even powder coated will fade out with time due overheat, just like paint even of top vendor BBK calipers. I'd rather not bother with that, spending money & time elsewhere. Even for looks, imho there might be better things to spend for.

You have to bake caliper paint for curing.
Requires disassembly of calipers.

Just get the PP brz calipers they already come painted red /s

If you paint them red or some other bright/light color they will fade or change color when they get hot. If you never drive hard this may not be too much of an issue, but if you push your car a bit you'll almost certainly be disappointed. One good session on a track would likely turn freshly painted red calipers brown.

I got my PP brembo's painted with high temp paint a year ago. Still looks banging and I've tracked a few times.

Some good feedback to think over here, probably won't go ahead with painting them now but not completely decided yet. I don't plan to track the car in the near future so I'm not looking to get Brembos or any BBK for now and I think I would need different wheels to fit most anything anyway (STI wheels now, haven't seen much in regards to BBK fit with them). It's definitely something I've thought about and probably will continue to browse wheels but not seriously considering it at this point. Might talk myself into it at some point in the future though.

What tires and pads were you using? How experienced are you?

Don't listen to the people saying "Don't paint your calipers hurrr." They are useless. Completely and utterly useless. ChrisFix has a video about painting calipers and his advice has yet to lead me astray
