2017 TRD catback on BRZ anyone?
Hey guys/girls,
Anyone on here installed a 2017 TRD catback on a 2017 MT BRZ? I'm about to pull the trigger on the TRD catback and I'm calling the Toyota dealer and the Subaru dealer and neither one of them want to guarantee fitment without any issues. If anyone installed, did it work trouble free? no check engine? no need for extra parts? no weird misbehavior? I realize I might be just paranoid about this but I guess it doesn't hurt to check before dumping a big lump of cash and get unpleasant surprises. Especially with no returns accepted. Also, any leads on where to get the TRD catback on the cheap in the US are appreciated. I tried looking in the used section here but they're just too few and too far in between. Thanks all in advance. |
Yes it should fit.
No cel when just changing catback. You may or may not need new gaskets if you're buying used. |
Well, depends which TRD you get.
The new quad pipes won't fit with out the rear trd bumper cause they are wider than the original rear openings. If you get the single D shape trd ones those fit perfectly. |

To me ricer are all non-single exit exhausts for twins. INCLUDING stock & trd. This is 4-banger engine, with single exhaust tube going to rear. Weight savings? Cost savings? Function over form? Never heard of.
People asked for more power? We listened! We gave them bigger and more exhaust tips! |

For the TRD catback you'd be better off buying a better aftermarket catback exhaust. There are better catbacks than TRD. For $1000.00 you can buy a Greddy, Invidia, Perrin or HKS & still have some change with that if you go with Invidia N1. Just my two cents! ;)

I've been stalking these forums for months now and getting advice in PM from forum members. I checked out all types of exhausts and the one that I think is most suitable for me is the TRD. It has the right combination of sound and loudness as well as making the noise that I personally want. If I still want more noise, I'll go for a header later on. But for now hopefully this TRD exhaust will fix my issue of the horrible sounding stock exhaust. Honestly Subaru stock exhaust sound like it's a dishwasher. Subaru can really be ridiculous. |
