I Like it, I think for the money you could probably get a setup that would produce better/more sound whichever your looking for but I think its great if you don't wanna spend money way more (Oem audio +) or if you don't want to give up your trunk to a sub box. But the sound out of the Oem is fantastic not to mention it works factory w/o losing most of your trunk space

Agreed. Yes, it's worth it. It's plug and play and just works. It's compact but still easily removable if you need the extra trunk space. Price is right for what you get. The 10" Kicker sub slaps a LOT harder than the 8" in the OEM Audio+ if you like music with heavy bass-lines. If you're into a more subtle bass profile, get the bass limiter for a couple dollars more.

why? 03-01-2018 05:31 PM

not in my opinion. Mainly because for $500 you can get a better sounding sub than the stock one.

The system is much better with a sub, but even a cheap aftermarket sub will sound better than the stock one. You really don't need to upgrade anything else but the sub imo, though of course a better head unit always helps too.

Thanks, are there any vendor out there I can order this with discount?

All depends. If you want it, it would sound nice and all, also adds that notch of getting all the optional features Subaru offers.

But if all you want is extra bass and don't want to spend a lot, you can pick up a powered sub that would sound as good as factory kicker sub for about $200-300 maybe less.

just ordered these two from that website. what is a bass limiter anyway? it allows us to limit how much bass you want to let in?

JL Audio sub can be bought for a similar price. I wonder how the sound quality compares?

From the link above
"The Subaru BRZ Subwoofer Bass Limiter is designed to limit the output of the Kicker 10 Inch Powered Subwoofer. The Bass Limiter harness installs between the subwoofer and the vehicle harness."

If you're talking about the JL Audio Stealth Box. It is close in price (about $100 more), but it's not amplified. Add an amp to that cost and the extra complexity of wiring it in vs. having a factory harness on the Kicker 10" that is about plug and play and that's another point towards the Kicker. Lastly, the JL Stealthbox installs permanently (with long screws), whereas the Kicker can be removed with turning two knobs. These are all things I factored when deciding to go with the Kicker. I personally haven't heard the JL Audio Stealthbox, but there's a lot written about it (both pros and cons) on this and other forums.

Has anyone put this subwoofer in a frs. does anyone know if this is plug and play?

stlgrym3 03-14-2018 06:40 PM

installed this couple days ago, that was $600 well spent, what a great upgrade.

Busybee 03-20-2018 09:22 PM

I am really sorry for asking this! Does this kicker sub fit to 2017/2018 toyota 86? Also, does anyone know if the toyota 86 has the plug and play ready installed to the trunk like the brz?

Thanks

Does the OEM sub work alright with an aftermarket head unit?
