10k miles between oil change

I decided to sacrifice my car (for science) and see how a UOA looks at 10k m.

I’ve always been a fan of Mobil 1, my last Miata was at 265k m before I sold it and still had great compression numbers.

I’m pleasantly surprised on how the FA20 with M1 did. Blackstone Labs even recommends stretching it out to 12k, which I probably won’t do and will go back to changing it every 8k again. It’s just nice to see that the oil is still healthy and doing it’s job beyond 10k m.

Oil additive in Mobil 1.

My ENEOS Sustina for comparison.

I wanted to stretch mine to over 10k as well, but I simply was not putting enough "normal" miles on the engine.

Impressed by the fuel percentage... Expected higher from a high compression engine. We have have some good rings.

I stretched my last oil change out to 10k mi as well and got similar results. I'm planning on dialing it back to around 7.5-8k though since past that I saw a noticeable drop in fuel economy.

Here's the report with the numbers from my past few changes. All of these have been with Valvoline SynPower 0W-20, fwiw.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. I'm glad to see how great modern engines and oils are. That's why my mom's Porsche only requires 1 oil change a year.

Anyone have a report but with motul?

I was changing mine every 15k with Amsoil and their oil filter. I'm dialing it back to 2k miles or less now since I don't daily it anymore.

LOL I enjoyed the "keep up the good work" closing line. Like getting all As on a report card.

Mate, thats is a overkill. If you use 0w-20 you are good, i would be worried about battery
