  • Run#1 153whp 125wtq
  • Run#2 180whp 143wtq
  • Run#3 194whp 150wtq

Run#1 Was a BASE run. Bone stock!

Run#2 Was with the Flywheel and Crank Pulley.

Run#3 Was with Flywheel, Crank Pulley, Header, Crossover pipe, Catback exhaust system.

(STOCK ECU ALL RUNS, 91oct FUEL)

Now we are working on which exhaust parts will give what gains. But since we have a flywheel/crank pulley in the car it is not going to be perfect. Results are also going to change from car to car and area to area. Fuel, Temp and so on.

As I get more info I will post it.

Here are the pictures of the system on the car and a under the hood shot.

ANYONE post ANY previously what or how shitty Vividracing was or done, I'll delete it. If you don't like them, don't bother commenting, just move along.

K, guys let's make this thread painless as we can.

Whats the flywheel and specs?

Opposed 07-23-2012 09:44 PM

Not being negative, just curious. There is a larger increase in whp and wtq from the pulley and flywheel than there is with full header and exhaust. Is caused by specific (Mustang) dyno that's being used? I know a lighter flywheel and pulley can "free" up hp, but I didn't know it showed up that much, if any on a dyno. Is this their pulley or was the Perrin one used?

I will make another thread for this and link to the 1st post.

Like to keep this about the exhaust.

best looking/sounding exhaust so far. cant wait for my catback.

is the catless setup / header throwing a check light? (assuming it is)
wonder if you can trick it with a o2 spacer

I believe the stock flywheel is too heavy that's why we all have idle issue. I remember when evo x came out it also got the same problem as we do. I could say even worst, but don't know what's the fix for it. Does your shop FRS stop the idle problem after the light weight flywheel??

Thats a good one i should of checked after adding the pulley. I ll check tomorrow if it stabilized my idle

I noticed it said all runs were done on 91 oct. fuel. Please continue to verify which set-ups are CA friendly, inlcuding CA admissions, smog etc. It will be much appreciated.

numbers may improve with 93 octane, 200+ whp with bolt ons and a tune seems very plausible... will be awesome in a 2700lb car with good throttle response and no turbo lag.

Interesting theory. I was trying to determine earlier today if the crank pulley I installed was keeping my engine from stuttering after falling to idle. It seems to be doing it less, but it did do it once today.

So would Subaru intentionally leave the stuttering issue as is? Perhaps they thought it would motivate people to fix the issue by installing a lightweight pulley and flywheel. And since that mod nets 27 whp it would help spread excitement about the upgradability of this engine. (/conjecture)

Can you dyno the exhaust on a stock car? (Read: no flywheel/crank pulley)

So am I right in assuming this that you gained 14whp with the addition of exhaust ,headers and midpipe ?

There seems to be so much conflicting information about your exhaust and I just need some clarification from you .

Thanks and Yes I might be keen
