anyone use Perrin cat back 2.5 resonated with Perrin cold air intake?

i'm thinking about getting the catback exhaust for sure, but noticed they also sell CAI, are they a good pair? i'm just looking for minimal power gain without any drama with CEL.

Do it!

Inlet and filter over the CAI, especially if you're not tuning for it.

My car had the Perrin CAI when I bought it. It throws the MAF scaling way off. Don't buy it unless you plan on having to tune for it. LTFT were off 10% across the board.

Perrin CAI actually drops midrange power slightly for a higher RPM bump. Drop-in and inlet tube (or even just the drop in) will get you just as far for a DD. But neither of those things will produce a noticeable power gain really. Getting an OFT tune would do more and not have a CEL.

The Perrin catback is a nice piece that sounds great though. I would say get a Perrin drop in filter, catback, and an OFT. Then if you still want to clean up the engine bay get the Perrin inlet tube later on.

I wonder how the 2.5 differs in sound. I have a resonated 3" and when I added a catless header it sounded like a fart canned Honda.

Which headers? And whats the rest of the exhaust? It seems like this car can sounds way different with just one piece different. I had a Q300 that sounded like even though I have heard it sound deep on my other twins.

Nameless header, Nameless catted FP. Had 3" resonated. Back on a stock cat back for now.

Probably the EL headers. The UEL is really what gives a deeper rumble. Doubt the 2.5" would sound any "better." I have the Miltek 2.5" resonated catback and it is deeper then the Perrin imo. I know a couple cars that run it around here and while the Perrin is deeper then most it still has a high pitched tone to it when accelerating I think.

My full set-up is Tomei UEL, Motiv OP,Berk catted FPO, and the Miltek catback

OFT= Open Flash Tablet. It is one of the tuning options available for the FRS/BRZ. An overview on tuning can be found here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29340

And yes, that is what we mean by drop in filter, as in it drops in the the OEM air box. Many companies make them besides Perrin as well.
