Stupid dealership license plate frame...

The silly little thing scratched up my trunk. I tried to see if it may have been the license plate itself but the scratches are far enough below the plate that I mostly ruled that out.

Pictures don't show it off too much but I figured I should make this post so other members can check if they had anything similar happen to their car.

The dealership was (so far) very cool about it. Just dropped off my car and they gave me a FURester loaner

Alright well I'm off to go haul some lumber/kayaking/playing with my dogs at the park. Typical forester things.

Hopefully they'll buff it out where it's not noticeable.

Did you add the foam strips?

That's what I'm worried about it. It's into the clearcoat. I don't know much about detailing but I have a feeling this won't be too simple. We already tried some simple polishing compound and that did nothing.

The foam strips were there and I want to say they are like that from the factory but I'm not positive. I've seen a bunch of newly picked up BRZ's without plates but I never bothered to notice if the strips were there. I'm gonna add a little something to my license plate and my NEW license plate frame.

My trunklid has 4 plastic caps where each of the plate/frame mounting holes are. They're primarily there as mounting spots for the screws to grab a hold of, but they also seem to serve as a buffer so the plate/frame does not make any actual contact with the painted surface of the trunk lid.

Might that be something worth looking into?

I have the same foam strips on my BRZ at the rear license plate area. Fortunately, there are no scuff marks or scratches from the dealer plate.

Let the bunch know if GBS Mafia needs to step in and resolve this.... :party0030:

Well I just got a call saying its mostly out. It's gonna require a repaint to be perfect. I'll see how it looks after work

My dealership kicks ASS! Definitely didn't want to repaint the whole trunk, who knows how that'd end up. This looks beautiful. Very happy :)

If SOA is reading: No I did not take that picture in the garage, that would be downright dangerous for me to do that, I had a tech take the picture for me.
