What's up everyone! I used to be pretty active here when I had my 15 Series.Blue:
https://i.imgur.com/AYPRHu8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/u7XQmGD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kVoAJkK.jpg I made a grave mistake of getting bored of NA, and not trying turbo (I had reasons I couldn't do it at the time) and sold her :( So then I started looking for a WRX/STI. My favorite years are the hawkeye and the stinkeye hatch, but I couldn't find a clean hawkeye nor a hatch. So I settled for a sedan. https://i.imgur.com/a9XHrjq.jpg I kept the sedan for less than a month, and sold it. I broke even thankfully :) |
I then went to pick up an S2000 in GA from an enthusiast. It had 50k miles, all stock except wheels, and in the pictures it looked perfect. But boy, I was in for a treat...
https://i.imgur.com/pBtpo7m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QXf6zdc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cHujmhm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/p3S3JKv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0ttvOWk.jpg the soft top tear/patch was bigger than I expected, the paint was in horrible shape, and the bumpers had been repainted though all the VINs were in tact and carfax was clean. Despite the condition this was probably the best stock car I've driven so far. The way this car delivers power is so dramatic, and with 255 rubber it felt so planted. I really liked this car, but I'm a bit of a detail freak and the fiancee absolutely hated it. It was loud on the highway, sometimes a little scary driving due to the soft top, and just overall making me feel terrible about my purchase. I sold the car for a small loss not too long after. |
Then I finally moved on to the most perfect example of a hatch STI. 18000 miles, all stock, owned by an older couple that really took care of the car. I went stage 2+ a week after buying the car, and absolutely loved the car. It was practical, felt very torquey, and just such a unique looking car all around. My only complaint was the dated interior and gas mileage, but I could overlook that. I even won a Subaru halloween car show when it was 100% stock!

Someone came along and offered to buy the car w/ all the mods on it, and I ultimately made the decision to sell the hatch also. I just couldn't envision the build. The car was great, and I loved driving it, but it just didn't feel like it was meant to be my car. |
So there it is. I admit leaving the 86 was a mistake. :) Before I picked up the 17 PP BRZ (my first brand new car!), I seriously considered an S2000 CR, or a very clean AP2, or an ND RF in white.
I could not find any s2000 CR in GPW for less than 35k in the nation, and no AP2 w/ black or all red interior nearby. Before I could even test drive the ND RF, my friends and family told me that I would probably just end up selling the miata and coming to the 86 anyway. The 2017 face lift and performance package is so beautiful in every way. I've always been a fan of the first gen with the right mods or headlights/taillights, but I think the 2017 just looks so much more aggressive. the new headlights are mean looking, and the performance package is a bargain. This was a 2017 fresh off the truck, and it was 1.5 months away from the 2018s rolling out. I got it for a steal, and I'm very happy with the car so far. The shorter gearing also helps in making the car feel a bit quicker. I went over to my friend's house (the red AP1 owner in the pictures) to get a full wash/clay/seal done to protect the paint to start the journey the right way. This time the car came with no dealer installed swirls, and I am determined to keep the paint in pristine condition. https://i.imgur.com/Yh1H0dc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jY6uXV6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dFNs9qx.jpg |

At least we're twins now! |
Thanks to @CSG Mike, I finally decided on my coilovers.
With the 2015 BRZ, I went the exhaust route first, but with this car I wanted to try wheels/suspension/tires first. I ultimately decided on Flex A with the advice from Mike on the fact that I plan to attend track/autocross events, and this set up has a lot of R&D from CSG for this application. I won't get them till April, so I might end up getting other mods done first, who knows :P https://i.imgur.com/oug7IVc.png |
Oh man! Welcome back, I loved following your thread
