ACE A-350 header installed w/ initial Delicious tune

Finally got around to installing my shiny new ACE A-350 header and getting the base tune flashed from Delicious tuning. Since the video was made, I have finished tuning with DT. So, looking forward to getting this thing on the dyno next week to see the gains over my previous setup (which I dyno'd a couple weeks ago).

Overall the install was as straightforward as other headers. Except, I had to raise the engine a little higher so the collector/overpipe would clear the sub-frame.

Thanks to CSG and DT for the support and tuning!

Good video

Want to come to NY and install mine for me? Never installed a tune before on car, kinda scared I will screw something up.

Loading tunes now days on cars has been pretty much idiot proof provided your cars battery is sufficiently charged.

Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next one!

Nice video! I love my A/350 and I would never get rid of it until I plan to sell the car. I'm also running a wonderful Delicious Tuning tune with a Flex Fuel kit from them.

Zach is a magician!

It's pretty simple! And like jasono said, tuning is pretty idiot proof these days, but I can see it being confusing for someone who has not done it before. Stay tuned for a video on ECUtek basics in the near future :)

Nice! Yes, Zach is good, only took a few datalogs to get the tune right.

When I first got the 2017 BRZ, my previous tuner and I did over 20 different tune files testing :o Granted that was when it was brand new and I was one of the few tuning on it with ECUtek.

Once this thing gets dialed in I'd love to check it out in person. Will there be any adjustment to the tune that is altitude- or track-specific?

Save some of that cash you're spending on the car and get a mic! Especially for the shots where you're talking in the garage, the audio quality goes way down compared to your voice overs. Better audio will help your vids a lot!

Yes, car was re-tuned for this header. I'll have it out at some of the track night in America events if you're going.

Thanks, I'm hoping to go to at least one of them. I didn't make any last year, unfortunately.

Haha I know. I have one coming, hopefully soon. The audio with the Rode mic on the DSLR is hit or miss.

EDIT: Also, at the beginning of this video I later learned I had audio settings wrong on the camera. It was way off when I went to edit :( Not sure what happened but I do have a shotgun mic like I mentioned which usually does ok.

I am going to assume for most people, the NAND flash life isn't an issue.

Just going to post and leave this, as I think it is relevant to any ECU conversation.

--
Just curious -- what is the flash life of the NAND on the OEM ECU? I haven't looked into this. Just curious, as this is a common failure with reflashing NAND devices.

Edit: Found it.

Quote:

How many times can I flash

According to the documentation

Guaranteed flash cycles 1000 , typical cycles before failure 10,000

Programming/erasing control program included as firmware of the ECU itself

I suggest a lav mic. If you use a shotgun mic, get a mic stand and place it much closer to your mouth. Don't leave it mounted on the camera when you're standing extremely far away from the camera! You'll get bad audio and hear all the reverberation from being in your garage.
