Trading my car in (Rocketbunny)
If I just replaced my fenders for stock ones, will it be okay? Or should I just take in the loss and trade my rocketbunny in with some stock wheels lol.
|
Can’t just bolt on new rear fenders. Have to make a pretty big cut in them for the rocket bunny kit + the rivets...
|
Depends how they installed the kit. Could be rivets or could be bondo.
One thing about trading a heavy modded car is you lose a lot. It just might be worth it to sell it via private party. There is always someone out there that wants your car as is. It just takes time to find a buyer. |
You'd have to replace the rear 1/4 panels, which would be very expensive (likely more than $5k by the time it's painted).
|
Just sell private party. Why trade it in?
|
Cause most don't wanna buy someone elses project.

What about, bumpers? If a full kit they are going to need to go back on and probably the paint won't match anymore so would require a full repaint. Were the front fenders rolled? if so they are done as well. Suspension? Wheels? Engine mods? Even if fully returned to stock appearance and paint the trade in value will be far less that one that had never been chopped up. To put it all back would probably cost almost as much as the car is worth. Just trade it as is and take the hit or sell it privately to somebody that wants that and take the hit. Either way as soon as you chop up a car you are going to lose money.
|
I bet everyone who put a rocket bunny on their car for the instagram fame doesn't take this into consideration before cutting the car.
like everyone said, Private sale might be a better option and you get more money for your car. stealership will do what they do best...steal from you. |
I'd trade it with the kit, you'll take a hit on the trade value, but probably not as big a hit as if the car had the fender and rear quarter cuts, and rivet holes.
Never body mod a car, that you aren't willing to risk decreased trade value on. |
I would think that the dealer would really low ball you because they probably couldn't sell the car on their lot and would have to wholesale it out.

IMO when it is time to sell a car; It is time to stop dumping money into it. I'm not saying to not fix small things like a burnt out bulb or a missing trim piece. But welding new rear quarter panels in is way to big of a project to do.
If you have time, Private party sell the car. You will likely get the most out of it this way. If not, take the hit and trade it in. You will save a bunch of work, cost, and time. And really after all that work and effort; how much more would you really be able to make? My guess is not enough to make it worth while. |
