Kinda make me worry! (Radiation related thing)

hello guys

I pray for japan every since they got this bad news  and I do hope they heal so quick and be better than before. But I have read the news in autoblog, and came with this...

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/06/r...pped-to-chile/

Now, I know japan applying TQM (total quality managment) since the 50's. Ans I do trust that they check evey car, but for sure they cann't 100% check all the cars (I belive they make over 1M car per year? right?)

What make me sad, and worry at the same time, that the car I love can be harm to me? :(

do you know how long you need to be expose on a item or an object that has a radiation level of 1 millirem?

Do you know how easy it is to get the radiation out on a object or item?

You're more likely to die from a Lightning Strike sitting in your car.

have you ever heard of half life?

I'm not really worried about the radiation, but at least the Japanese automakers are taking precausions.

i would bet you get more radiation from a plane flight or a banana or even peanutbutter. im a radiographer so if i do get one of these things ill keep my dosimeter badge in the car and see how much additional radiation i get

LOL

+1 for the StarCraft reference.

@ Topic, pretty much what everyone else said. I worry about radiation about as much as I worry that I'll get sick from going out in public.

Well, the truth is I know nothing about radiation levels.... I only know its harmful!

I'd be happy if someone give me a brief explaintion about it?

the best thing to do would be google it. many people dont know enough about things when they talk. for instance, when he said millirem im pretty sure the correct unit for that scenario would be millirad. and it would take less than one day to recieve that much radiation from natural background sources.
the difficulty to remove radioactivity from an item will range from as easy as the push of a button all the way to impossible so i dont quite understand what to say about that.
yeah its harmful but what isnt? id be willing to say that radiation saves more lives than it takes at this point

Haha :bonk:

I wouldn't worry about it, radiation is everywhere you're exposed to it every day
