Break in oil
 
So my block is almost done being built and I see a lot of different information flowing around. I get free Castrol 5w30 full synthetic at work and I’ve always used that for my oil changes. My question is have any of you guys used the redline break in oil additive? If so any luck with it? If not then what have you guys tried and what’s been your luck?

I was thinking amsoil or liqui moly.

Motul is also on the list but idk which motul tho, I’m not really a fan of royal purple and I’ve never really used redline before so any info is helpfull :thanks:

Well your block we don’t know the specs is it n/a or turbo standard or heavy modded. 5w30 is a good balance. If your heavy racing then that’s different you could go to the castrol slx professional racing oil 5-40. I have never used the redline break in oil additive. Celek would be a good person to ask as he is the master engine builder. As for brand royal purple has a good physical protection, redline is also good although I have never used it. I use to use mobile 1 in my subies. Motul is good to, brand is up to you it’s all preference. I’ve heard that Enoes also makes good stuff. I would highly sudjest an oil cooler reguardless this is very important.

Ok then your at the same hp and compression. I would then stick with the 5w30 and oil cooler. If you get castrol free try to see if they have Subaru Castrol SLX Professional SM 5w-40. That is what Subaru uses for professional racing for this car an is in the jdm O.M. I would see if you could get a 5w30 weight though as you are not a professional racer. I would suggest though breaking in the car with Toyota 5w30 oil or the Enoes oil and break it in properly like it says in the O.M. For at least 1500 miles then do an oil change and put in what ever one you want. But still follow the break in the O.M. For the rest of the 7000 miles. Then oil change again and then you can start tracking if you want.

Completely forgot the rest of the set up lmao Mybad full blown with gtx2867 will be at 12lbs of boost for now. Compression is 10.5:1. I was talking with Chris from msr and he said driven BR30 is the way to go
