My guesses are as follows

Pros:
I think smoked side markers look good on certain color schemes
two colors looks cool
they seemingly wire into your indicators

Cons:
you have to know how to splice wires
if an led goes out it seems like you have to replace the whole unit instead of getting another bulb

I'm using the smoked helix side markers with some amber leds. the smoked color and brighter leds are a good looking combo imo
