Anyone have brake squeal after new wheels?
Replaced my stocker 17x7" wheels with 17x8 RPF1s and stock (original) Michelin Primacy tires with Michelin Pilot Sports. Same size tires. and everything's good but now my brakes are squealing a bit from the rear when i roll to a stop. Brake pads look fine. Pedal is fine. My 2013 has about 26K miles on it now. It started happening within days (that i noticed) of the installation.
AFAIK, the brakes are 100% stock and original. My thoughts: 1.) coincidence.. maybe the pins and sliders etc need some grease/that nasty blue gooey gunk that keeps things from vibrating. 2.) Some sort of harmonic thing with lighter wheels? Or perhaps it's because these wheels are more "open" so more sound is let out of them, where it would be blocked by the OE style? 3.) Related to how the tire shop torqued the wheels perhaps? It's a reputeable shop and i've seen them use hand wrenches to tighten lugs before.. which should be good. Any other ideas? |
