If my stock clutch is about to go out should I replace it with a stock or a stage 1?

I reckon that would depend upon how much power (FI or not) you would need it to hold and what kind of driving you will be doing (track or not).

Get the clamping power for what you need when you put it in.

I don't know how many times I have been in a stock powered car with an Act Stage X clutch that was so hard to push and heel-toe for no reason.

Oh, and the ToB wore our faster on that specific car. :|

If you're still under warranty and the dealer is willing to warranty it, I would go for the stock clutch. But I see you want to SC later down the road, the stock clutch would be at it's upper limit and will eventually slip. Max torque for stock clutch is around 220 ft-lbs, which you'd be pretty close to with a SC.

South Bend makes some pretty good clutches that are hardly heavier than stock with little to no chatter yet still can hold a decent amount of power.
