TRD Springs void warranty?
So i contacted my dealership today about installing TRD lowering springs on my FRS and they told me they wouldn't do it as it is considered "aftermarket". Their reasoning was that anything regarding the suspension voids the warranty. How bullshit is this? At this point I don't know if i should DIY it or take it to a shop.

Or move over to other dealership (at least for regular maintenance stamps sake). Voting with wallet [tm]

100% bullshit, they're just lazy and don't want to have to think about anything other than overcharging Corolla and Prius owners for oil changes and air filters and brake jobs. Don't try to force them to take your business, they obviously don't want it.
DIY isn't too bad, but if you're relying on a dealer to potentially help you out with warranty find another dealer to install, you may have to drive for an hour to a good one but the peace of mind is worth it. There's some decent shops though, post in the local section for advice. |
Go to speed/performance shop

I had my trd springs, swaybars, fog lights, quick shifter, and exhaust installed by the dealer when my car was only weeks old. I was told by the dealer that since they are Toyota parts installed by them that they were now included in the 3 year factory warranty.
This was Capitol toyota. Also, a lot of dealers put them on new cars. Just put them on and if you have a problem tell the dealer it came that way. |
TRD US or Japan springs? Makes a huge difference.
