The 2018 Subaru BRZ Youtube video

Subaru uploaded their first promotional video regarding the 2018 Subaru BRZ.

The video shows two BRZs taking lots of corners and drifting. The video has no information on the changes for 2018.

I was just thinking the same thing. I mean I haven't seen the 2017 video in a while, but it looks like the same video I remember.

Chrysler can give us a "Dodge Brothers" commercial that makes even the dumpy, gutless Avenger look awesome. Lexus shows a track monster turning into an RC F. Jaguar shows us how cool it is to be a Bond villain. Even the damned Camry commercials make the car look and sound like something somebody might actually want to drive.

Yet we get the most unimaginative snoozefests from both Subaru and Toyota to promote this car. In this one, it's like they selected the music to appeal to the new age lesbian grandmother market. Even when it goes sideways, it's boring and gives nothing of the experience of driving this car.

It's like they just don't want to sell any of them.

Low-budget commercial for a low-production car that sells 350-450 units per month.

You either want a BRZ or don’t, and Subaru knows this hehe.

All my friends that aren't into cars don't even know it exists. Car companies can convince a couple with no kids that they need a 3 row SUV for their 5 bags of groceries. If they put half if that energy into marketing this car, it would have better numbers.

EDIT: Words

In fairness I have met many people that are well into cars that have no idea these exist. Just because people are into cars doesn't mean they know or care about every single model ever made.
Hell, I didn't even know these cars existed until late in 2014 when I tripped over mine. I literally (yes in the real sense of the word) bought the very first one I ever set eyes on in real life, online or advertising. It is sort of presumptuous of us to think that every single person that is "into" cars would know about ours.

I wasn't expecting any changes, hence my recent purchase of a MY 2017 BRZ. :-)

My comment was intended to warn folks that there was no new information in the video. I would have worded it better, but it was late.

Not an excuse. This is a Lexus commercial that uses the about the same production crew and equipment. Probably the same type of chase cars. Same drones. Probably about the same number of production days, and about the same amount of time in the editing bay.

The only things more expensive about it are an extra day in Pro Tools, a VO artist and some extra drivers, the last two of which would be unnecessary for the Subaru spot. Yet this commercial actually makes me feel something, even though I don't particularly like Lexus. It doesn't have to be expensive for them to at least make an effort.

EDIT: Words

While I hope the twins will be around for many years to come, I like that they arent very well known cars and that I rarely see another one on the road. I have yet to see another BRZ on the road locally and Ive seen maybe two FRS and one 86. On the other hand I see dozens of Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and Chargers every day.
