Driving is like typing, and cars are like keyboards. We can all use our keyboards to check our email and our cars to get to work. But people who learn to type will be much faster than people who just buy fancy keyboards.

for sure that no true man , md is fast at 0-100, and with the track tires!

Ask an instructor to drive your car and show you how much you are leaving on the table. At autocross, an instructor can usually put 3 to 8 seconds on a new driver on our 35 second test n tune course...in the same car. |
check the video at 7:45....... i got tire slip on 4th gear. wut do u think it could be the reason
try to use the stock no grip tires chasing with a re-71 nd! it was really hard. |

You need a good reference point for what the car is capable of as it sits now. Once you can get in the ballpark of the car's potential, then start changing parts. |
Stickier tires will help the most; better braking distance, better cornering performance, more predictable acceleration. Launching from a start, better tires will definitely get you faster straight line speed vs the low traction stockers.
No other engine bolt on will give you a better bang for the buck. Okay, maybe a better flowing panel filter for $50 bucks over stock, but it definitely won't help you brake any better. |
This is the trackday on 04 02
Improve my lap time for 3 seconds Get my final racing line Forgive me for the miss shift in part 1 Next step is rim tires Brake pad [ame="http://youtu.be/QP1EizPUCOM"]http://youtu.be/QP1EizPUCOM[/ame] [ame="http://youtu.be/ZLkvgboMOw0"]http://youtu.be/ZLkvgboMOw0[/ame] Try my best to chasing the evo |
Hi jayliu,
I bought mine about a year ago, my first rear wheel drive ever. Got very good advice, go to a skidpan (wet tarmac) and practice control at low speeds, get a good feel and increase from there. There is NO substitute for seat time, drive as much as you can... Skidpans, racetracks, try and enter some friendly events in your area. As for upgrades, brakes are very important for track use, you can easily overheat your stock brakes and fluid with hard track driving. At least proper fluid and pads are needed, even if just for the confidence of being able to do a bunch of hot laps in a row without worrying about brake temps. Once brakes are done, buy another set of rims and put some decent tires them, that way you can swap tires and feel the difference and also keep a nice set for track use and a dodgy cheap set for drifting... When you have used a few sets of tires and can REALLY handle the 200hp you will be much better equipped to choose further mods. I have learned so much in this year of driving. Trust me, the stock setup with good tires and brakes can be VERY fast on track. I am happy brakes and exhaust are my only mods. Its nice to pass an M3 on track, tell him I have a stock engine and see his face :( PS: I only bought my exhaust it was cheap and makes a cool sound, it only made about 1/2hp difference... |

What made the biggest difference so far in my laptimes was brakes, after the upgrade I have way more confidence and now brake at the 50m boards not the 100m, lap after lap. When I stopped worrying about brakes and started doing several hot laps in a row then I got much faster.
I am curious to see how you feel with the mods installed... I love this car on track, got my semis (Bridgestone RE-11s) fitted and going for a time attack event at a local Go-Kart track on Saturday. I can't wait ;) |
