Selfmade Intake : FR-S

3 Attachment(s)
Hello all! So I got bored ( then pushed on by some energy drink:bonk: ) and gave a whack at making an intake for my FR-S. I removed the noise generator a few weeks back now, and really wanted to continue my cleanup of the engine bay. So a quick trip to Advance Auto (I used Spectre parts) and purchased a vaccume adaptor, boot connect, one straight section, and a flex hose (that I cut just an elbo for). I used the factory air box including MAF sensor in its original location, and I already had a K&N sitting in the box.

Good throttle responce, really helped the after 4k rpm slump, and I'm loving it so far. No Check Engine light yet. 10 miles of driving.

What's the point of this?

I thought the same, but didn't know how to ask it...

The stock intake is begin replaced by something EXTREMELY similar so I don't see much improvement if any.

No need to make fun of OP's work.....

I genuinely want to hear from OP, how he thinks there is gain from the mod.

The resonator tube delete has already been dynoed to not gain any HP.

With responses like this, it makes me think twice about posting and sharing any ideas...

Good job OP... Keep doing what you're doing.

Oh I know there will be no actual change when it comes to what actually hits the road.... I'm JUST at 1000k miles so maybe the motor is just waking up a lil because of the change. Once it figures what happened, I'm sure it will correct itself and will be like I never changed it.
Basic of it is, some of us just get creative for no reason (so calm down sportsguy83) Just got bored and didn't like the plugged holes on the factory intake after I removed it. This is a simple wasted hour or so of my time on a day off..... should probably cut the grass.... but na. Lol.

Xcelir8brz, yours was cool. If I actually decide to go with a home made (have money already to the side for an aFe intake in August), I would actually go on your same path. And thanks

Kind of funny that you take a little jab at me, when I am the one defending your mod throughout the thread (of other people kind of making fun of it). I just really wanted to know if you felt any performance gain, and why...

Oh well....

Ryosuke86 07-22-2012 11:28 PM

Alright then.... its all good then sportsguy:happy0180:

Responce or difference is probably not going to be anything..... she is still coming out of the engine break in period so everything makes her moody and change. Lol

I give it maybe 5 more start ups and it will figure out what happened and everything will be as it was. :D
