Does any UEL come close to the Ace header gains?

I'm personally not a fan of the EL sound, but was hoping to get in the mid 190's on a NA/91 setup. E85 isn't really available in the Seattle area, unfortunately.

Would any UEL + OP/FP + tune setup get me in that ballpark? I know they are just numbers..+30ish gains are really all I care about. My understanding so far is that it would be closer to +20 on average.

Maybe with JDL combo

Trueweltall 01-09-2018 08:27 AM

Tomei/Gruppe-s UEL can probably get you there. The price premium for ACE just isn't worth it for most people.

+1 for JDL header op/fp combo

What are the car's specs here? What tune?

Any idea what the baseline was?

Dont forget this is still also a dynojet...highest reading dyno's of them all.

The price premium isn't that much imo. The CS400 is ~$300 more than the JDL header+overpipe.

+ecutek+delicious tune
That's a $2.3k setup by my count.

Edit: the following is based off my misinterpretation of CSGs graphs and isn't really all that valid. It's clarified on post 41 what this graph actually means. The below is left for posterity of preserving my original comments.

Mike posted an ACE vs OFT+OFH chart, at less than half the price you're looking at being down ~5hp peak and a lot of area under the curve (OP is only concerned with pump gas), whether it's worth more than $1k is up to the individual.

Probably not for a lot of people, especially if UEL noise is a priority.
I sure am glad someone is pushing the boundaries though.

If you are adding the forced induction fact into there then the JDL turbo kit is far cheaper and arguably better than an ACE header with any supercharger with the GT or GTX turbo upgrade. Depending on the goals of the car of course.

I was just looking at the hardware. There are Ace-specific vvt tables available for the OFT.

Impureclient 01-09-2018 09:25 PM

$475 Gruppe-s UEL and $300 OFT from classifieds = 1/3 the cost of Ace/ecutek/tune and close enough because 10HP isn't worth $1500 more.
That extra $1.5k will get a final drive swap done with money left over for other fun stuff and it will be enjoyed more than having a 200HP dyno to brag about.

Literally in the post you quoted:

"~5hp peak and a lot of area under the curve"
