the El Camino may cometh again
"Joel Ewanick, General Motors' new Chief Marketing Officer, said on Twitter tonight that GM will bring back the El Camino if 100,000 people say they want it. We'll call that bluff."
http://jalopnik.com/5798792/gm-will-...t-on-this-post read the article for more info, this could be a great thing :party0030: |
I replied to that article yesterday. It's fun when Jalopnik trolls like this, though I doubt that GM would actually bring back the El Camino if Jalopnik actually got the required # of comments.
|
Of those 100,000, how many will actually buy it?
|
I might, if I need something to haul ass and grass at the same time. Sod, not pot. Get yer minds out of the gutter
|
I didn't know GM was still in business.
|
Does that mean Ford is going bring back the Ranchero! :bellyroll:
Seeing how the current classic rejuvenations suck, I really hope they don't reach 100,000 votes. |

Though i do have some worries about the outcome, i have faith that they will go in the right direction. They have been selling the Holden Commodore Ute in Australia... http://images.drive.com.au/drive_ima...e_SS-V_m_m.jpg and as the Chevy Lumina Ute in South Africa... http://www.waymotor.com/img/820-Chev...uth-Africa.jpg A couple years ago, GM had plans to bring it to the states as the Pontiac G8 Sports Truck, and then they fell through... http://images.drive.com.au/drive_ima...ac_ute_m_m.jpghttp://www.themotorreport.com.au/con...7ac570b382.jpg So yeah, this won't be their first ballgame, but i'm not sure how well the current design would translate to the new Chevy face... http://www.chevrolet.com/assets/en/i...t_01_large.jpg |
The thing is that they never stopped making it. All they would have to do is swap the front end for the one on the Camaro

Australian motoring journo's have been telling us holden are going to sell rebadged utes as el cameno's in the USA since about 2001 (the ute in my avitar is an 01' model).
It seems to come up for discussion with every new updated model... It always seems to fall through for some stupid reason :s I think they like pushing the idea because without exports Holden would go under faster than GM did! |
Didn't Audi do the same thing with the TT RS US release? They brought it to the states, but didn't really make enough to make it significant.
