Circular "hatch" on the right rear of my car....

Anyone know what it is? Is that for charging the battery?

The whole country is laughing at Oregon. I'll still be filling up in Vancouver, though.

‘I don’t even know HOW’: Some Oregonians panic about new self-service gas law

Wait, what? It was mandatory to have an attendant pump your gas? As in, no matter where you were filling up? At every single gas station?

Wow.

The Chive had a hilarious set of posts on this subject.

Wow.

Same thing here in NJ. Literally illegal for me to pump my own gas. Watched an attendant spill gas all over this dude's Ferrari once, I cringed a bit but the dude's reaction was priceless.

Yep. Same thing in New Jersey. Felt weird to have somebody do it after 40 years.

Well, not all gas stations. I have CFN/Pacific Pride Company gas cards and have been pumping my own gas for a decade. It is how I have run non-ethanol premium for the life of my FR-S.

Guys guys, I found this button on the floor, left side of the driver seat. I pulled up on it and heard a "thunk" from somewhere in the back of the car, like right rear. So I came out, scared to death, and the circular hatch popped out. Is the car totaled? I'm so scared for my insurance

Motorcycles can pump their own, and fleet(?) stations are self-serve, but for us serfs no self-serve until now. I'm glad I can claim to be a non-native Oregonian, as the stuff that goes on here is comical. I don't remember the last time I got gas in Oregon, I'd rather pay WA the tax.

I thought it was a speed brake at first, but I could not find one on the left.

Holy jumping. That's ridiculous.

I actively avoid stations where attendants pump gas.

It sure is.

I wonder if I could get a dutch rudder from the gas attendant, would that be legal? If he held my arm and moved it for me while i pump the gas?

Not hard to do around here since about 2% of the stations have them and even then there is rarely actually anybody at the "we serve" pumps to do it.

IIRC, you can get fined for just touching the pump in NJ.
