My main issue with the Solo 2 is the unreliability of the WiFi. I wish they left the USB port as an option. Also, they seem to have changed the data format so third party tools don’t show the data correctly so I’m forced to use the crappy Aim Analysis:(

Is that why I'm having problems getting data into racerender? It will export CSVs but one separate file for each parameter, which sucks.

@Sleepless would you mind emailing me the data from both? I'd like to compare, as when I've used both units simultaneously with a clear view of the sky, my data has never varied +-0.03

I don’t have the data. This was done at Pacific Raceways which has trees around it so can be GPS-challenging.

After a redo the test I’ll send you the data. I will use different units to help rule out a “bad” Solo 1. Stay tuned...

You doing ORP this weekend? I'll be there, hopefully with my new Solo2, if you wanted to compare two Solo2.

I'm looking forward to your next test. I have never had an issue with my Solo1 at PR ever, ditto for all the other racers I know that use it as well. Never an issue with GPS either. I suspect there's something else afoot.

I'll also be there with my solo2

edit: although it's my first time at ORP so my data will be pretty useless

Can you hard-wire a Solo 2 DL, or must you use the obd2 connector?

If you can hard-wire it, which cable do you use, the obd2 one with the end cut off, or the other CAN cable?

You can splice the OBD2 version, or use the flying lead version. Your choice!

Is there a way to download data but keep it on the AIM device in order to keep the fastest lap (in the case of best lap of day reference).

Sleepless 07-10-2019 08:23 PM

Had a chance to compare several GPS-based units simultaneously at Pacific Raceways and the Solo and Solo 2 showed very similar results. I also compared to a VBOX Sport.

This testing was done with different Solo/Solo2 units compared to the previous tests I posted. I spoke to the person that did the initial test and learned that the Solo2 came off the mount during a previous session so there is some chance it is not functioning perfectly.

Conclusion, there is not difference in GPS performance between Solo/Solo2 (and VBOX Sport).

Sure is.

Download, and uncheck the "delete after download" box.

If the on-board memory fills up, oldest data gets overwritten first.

Many thanks!

Fwiw, my solo 2 dl has worked well so far. Also, user profiles ftw
