Speaking of 1-2 gear shifts, try it with a transmission with no synchronizers, pulling a ground working implement and without being able to blip the throttle. :D humfrz |
I'm thinkin' that if ol' humfrz tries to blip that ^^ throttle it might not go too well.

The Steelers shirt and flag just ruins it for me :barf:

Does the service schedule specify when trans and diff oil should be changed? I am at 35,000 miles in a 2013 and I haven't changed neither.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8374 Manual transmission oil - inspect every 24 months or 30,000 miles. ATF - Inspect after 30 months or 30,000 miles. Replace after 60 months or 60,000 miles Diff Gear Oil - Inspect every 12 months or 24,000 miles. Replace every 48 months or 60,000 miles. Few people on here rave about Redline oils in their trans and diffs: diff: https://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=40 trans: https://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=46 |

Your bigger concern is braking in your car properly and do an oil and filter change after 1000 miles pay for that so you can get them free under your dealer. Then get your first oil change at 7500miles or 7.5month as it says in your OM. After 9-10k I would then start tracking it if you want. Also if you live in a hot climate or will be tracking or autoX I recommend going to a 0w30 or 5w30 engine oil for protection brand is up to you as long as it meets or exceeds the OM specs. Down the road I would recommend an oil cooler and oil temp gauge Learn proper techniques and drive happy. |

Is there any sort of consensus on a specific MT fluid that consistently makes the car shifts feel a little better? (especially in cold?) - from what I have seen thus far from searching, it appears that there is no consensus. I ask because on a previous car I had a mix of Redline MT90 and MTL became the de facto standard, and made that 6 speed ridiculously improved, and I am hoping there is some sort of mix specific to our transmissions that might do the same?

I put motul gear 300 in mine and my diff and it was great. Planning on driving my new one off the lot and then changing it as soon as I get home, same with the engine oil. But that's just me.

lol I've never understood the voodoo with trans oils.
I'm one of the camp that changed it after a few hundred miles and never looked back, MT90 methinks...? Anyways, shifting was a little rough and notchy since day one but as I'm in the 30k mile range now its apparent that everything keeps getting smoother and more satisfying as time goes on. I do have a wad of bushings and mtec springs, they all help, but the actual click into gear feels better now than when it was new. |
