Paint peeling and rust on passenger side reinforcement brace

I was installing Berk front pipe yesterday and noticed paint peeling and rust on the left reinforcement brace thats just above the catalytic converter in the front pipe in the engine bay.

I always had stock pipe, so not sure if it's because of heat. Anyone else have experienced or seeing something like this. It's only on left brace and peeling is only confined to this piece that's welded to the side rail and firewall.

I looked online and it's called reinforcement toe board (p\n 51630CA1709P)

Note: It looks oily beaucse I got it krown rust proofed a short while ago.

That looks like a pretty clear cut case of corrosive liquid damage. Where it came from, I have no idea, but the battery is right above that area...I'd start there.

I looked at the battery and its clean. No corrosion on the battery tabs or anything. Going to investigate this over the weekend. Maybe its leaking or something.

That exactly what I thought also, but the reservoir, cylinder, abs all is on the other side. Hopefully I could find the source and sort it out before it gets bad.

Is there a hard brake line in that area?
