Godspeed monomax coilovers

Got a guy on craigslist with these. They were only on the car for a few months. They retail for 850$. Should I give 550$ for these? They come with aftermarket end links.

Is there anything else I will need? Is this a good deal?

What are your goals from aftermarket suspension? How do you use your car?
If without specifying anything, just "better then stock 2014", i'd rather get used MY2017 set from member classifieds.

Hey sorry,

My goal is to lower the car with little loss to ride quality.

It’s not for performance.

I also threw up a thread on reddit and have someone saying godspeed’s are bad quality.

How much are you hoping to lower your car? Lowering springs may be a cheaper and effective solution. I had RCE Yellows for a while and really liked them. They gave me about a .75 inch drop, and had a good ride with the stock dampers. There are other springs out there that can give you more of a drop if you want to go lower. I assume others will chime in with info on their springs. @Tcoat for example.

Coil over are great if you want to be able adjust. I have no idea about the quality of those since I have never heard of that brand before. If just going for looks I would also say springs only.

I run the RR Super Down springs for about an 1 1/2" drop. There is a slight change to the ride but nothing dramatic.

Godspeed gets a bad rap for some reason. I've only really read rumors and not anything from first person experience. I have Godspeed swaybars, and despite a swaybar being a pretty simple piece of equipment, the predictions for failure were comical. That said, a coilover is a whole 'nother thing...no experience with this product. Good luck.

Previous owner getting rid of them after a coupl months. He obviously did not like them!

Red flag!

You can blow coils in just a few months if they are adjusted incorrectly. I have.

The name is also your first sign. "GODSPEED" REALLY?!
Maybe JesusFast was taken.... Chinese junk IMO.

Because brands like Godspeed, Megan, Manzo, and others are just a name slapped on a box.

They change suppliers every time the price is raised, factory raises MOQ requirement, or they found a cheaper supplier.

Imagine buying a Toyota where it's made in a completely different factory not owned by Toyota, and the QC is all over the place. That's what you get for buying cheaper brands.

The bad rap is valid.

I heard new corollas transmissions are made in mexico, sealed where you cant rebuild them and just throw away and new required.

QC for genuine OEM suppliers is much higher than aftermarket OEM.

In general, a manufacturer will only source from suppliers that will warranty their product to match the OE warranty offered to the end user. This ensures minimal defects, not really worried.

I am afraid to run springs because they blow the struts apparently.

No they don’t. Coil overs can have just as many problems. I have 105,000 miles on mine and struts are fine. A good set of springs with stock struts can easily outlast cheap coil overs in a street car.

Leonardo 12-22-2017 06:43 PM

65,000 miles on eibach pro kit springs and stock struts. No problems.
