KW Clubsport 2-Way Adjustible Suspension - Camber Adjustment
Hey guys,
I installed a set of KW Clubspor(2-way) Suspension w/ top mount on my car last weekend, brought the car to the alignment shop yesterday and only to find out they could not get more than -1.5 camber out of the fronts!!!! The car is also equiped with Cusco Adjustible lower arm at the fronts and they seem not helping at all even the alignment guys push them out to the maximum setting(should get around -2.5 camber with OEM shocks alone according to Cusco manual). Supposedly and theoreatically, the KW top mount and the lower control arm should have provided a good range of camber adjustiblity. I just couldn’t understand why they can’t get more than -1.5camber out of the front. Btw, my old shocks can get more than -3.5 camber at the front easy without even messing with the lower control arms. Have anyone here experienced the same and can share some insights on this? Cheers and have a very merry Christmas... |
Did you install the top hats correctly? Did you lower the car?
|
Yes, car is lowered.
The slot for camber adjustment on the top plate is sitting horizontally to the front - so the top piece can move left to right for adjustment. I presume this is th correct orientation of the top plate, is it right? Cheers |
Not quite sure what could be the issue then. Just a wild guess but is it possible the top hats & Cusco lower arm aren't compatible with each other?
Don't the Clubsports have a slotted hole on the strut as well? Maybe that would help you get a little bit more of camber. |
Thanks mate,
It is very strange...maybe one day I will pop the OeM arms back on and see what I can get out of them. There is indeed a slot in the shock body but the bolt movement seems very limited given that the slot is not significantly wide...might not help as much:( |
I think your alignment place is doing something wrong.
|
Can you post pics of the camber plates? And was this a performance alignment shop or just a regular shop? Wondering if adjustable LCAs through them off a bit
|
The lower mounts on KWs are slotted...you can get more than -1.5 up front even without camber plates.

Either you installed it wrong, or you need a new alignment shop to go to.
|
Are the KW camber plates asymmetrical like some of the others? If yes, are they on the right side of the car?
|
Thanks for he input guys....
Got the car up today to swap out the front sway bar endlinks... Thought I might as well remove the lower mount blots on the shock and have another look. Like you guys said, the slot on the shock mount does have room for a bit of movement.the hub was acutally sitting at the outter edge of the slot.Pushed it into the inner end and now it gives more negative camber.yeahhh...will book another alignment and see how it goes... Cheers for the inputs guys and excuse my ignorance since it is my first time using KW items... Cheers and have a very Merry Christmas... |
I have RCE Tarmac 2 coilovers which are very similar to the KW Clubsports that you have. I’m able to get more than 4 degrees negative camber on my setup, granted I do have Raceseng CasCams. I recommend maxing out camber at the hubs then adjusting at the camber plate. You might want to double check and make sure everything is installed correctly..
