BRZ strange screeching noise

Background:
- 2017 BRZ, 600 Miles on the ODO
- 39 yo (not very smart one)
- large empty lot, no one around, late in the evening

What I did:
- I tried to do some power slides. By power slides i mean basically reach like 35-40 mph and do a sudden turn to provoke sliding (car is still below the first 1000Mi, do not really want to go full throttle)
- While the car is sliding (did several slides) - I could hear the strange screeting noise kinda like similar to ABS. The noise coming from the rear axle

Question: can this be ABS or my spare tire moving? Any thoughts (other than to propose to behave in line with my age)?

Thanks

Tires make that sound when they lose traction

I bet it's the TCS/VSC system messing with you. Turn it all the way off and try again. I had the same experience 5 years ago when I wanted to do a few doughnuts. It makes a hell of weird noise when the tcs/vsc "helps".

I'd take the car to the dealer and demand to know why yours has a rear axle!

driving aids are certainly part of it but in general with the tire size & setup the twins get it doesn't make the greatest tire screeching noises anyways.. (it was even more rampant with the '13 FRS due to the tighter rear suspension)

the noise is actually kinda like metal against metal... my first thought was: is my car trying to spit out the lsd or something out of itself?????

Its the damn crickets, they made an improvement starting MY17 to move them from under the hood to the rear for better weight distribution. They don't like it back there, so instead of chirp, they angrily screech now.

(sorry I do not have any other ideas :))

TOLM:

Hit the rev limiter as many times as possible before the engine is fully broken in.

It's way more fun than what you've already tried.

You should have SNOW by Friday, then the real fun begins.
