I should note that it looks like all 3 uses the same design for the adapter from throttle body to cylinder head intake ports. I wouldn't be surprised if they are all from the same OE maker.

The EMC one looks rather similar to the Greddy. I wonder what sort of power should we expect from this?

" *Notes: Future option for open 50mm velocity stacks and ECUTEK speed density set-up (removes runners and plenum) sold separately." (greaddy)
This!
Velocity stacks! -drool

the finished version of the EMC Engineering plenum looks suspiciously similar to the Greddy design. is this just a rebranded product?

EMC actually came out with theirs first, the first version was shown at TAS 2014.

I think everyone likes Greddy bc they are now actively pushing it in the US, which is entirely fine from a sales/support perspective. Both EMC and SARD are Japan-only companies with very limited support overseas.

cyde01 12-18-2017 10:36 PM

what i meant to say is i get the feeling Greddy just bought the rights to the design from EMC Engineering. EMC is an especially small company, they were relatively unknown before they made this kit weren't they? if the Greddy kit is just a rebadged EMC kit, i wonder how much faith we can put into the design/build quality.

This is assuming EMC made theirs in-house or own the design begin with.

Many companies source designs from OE makers, often times not in Japan. Once you've seen enough shipping boxes you'd know products are never what they seem to appear as.

Hawk77FT 12-19-2017 12:26 AM

I wonder which one of these kits will perform better?

FunnyGopher 12-19-2017 12:57 AM

Wow, comparing the pics from GReddy's website to the EMC ones above, it's literally the same kit. I wonder what caused the sudden push for ITB sales in the US then.

Opportunity and greed. If you can't make money on it, you won't risk doing it when the goal is to be profitable.

I'd guess it's the sudden availability of a part they were all waiting on. Or maybe they needed to iron out some details with the tune/making it drive right.

Where are the velocity stacks though?????

The EMC prototype in the video I linked already shows velocity stacks being used. I'm fairly certain if this reuses AE111 throttle bodies then you can use whatever velocity stacks that bolt to that throttle body. Several companies have come up with those already, no need for Greddy to reengineer something that is 20 years old at this point.
