Joying H/U questions, recommended apps, BT issue

Got this head unit https://www.carjoying.com/779.html and had it installed at a shop since I'm sick and really didn't feel like messing with it and am having a few issues. Bluetooth works fine when it's just my phone, but when I pair both my phone and the OBD2 adapter it cuts out every few seconds. Any suggestions how to fix this?

As far as the dash piece goes in the '17 model, for that Canadian piece, do you need to buy the entire dash piece or could I just get the piece surrounding the unit?

Which cable needed to be moved around to utilize the OEM amp? I took the car back again and they moved some wires around but it still sounds flat so I'm almost positive they did it incorrectly.

Any recommendations on good launchers/EQ's/overall useful Android HU apps? For some reason this model came with a 3-band EQ and it's not that good.

Plenty of reading material over here, there's several threads about that family of units:

AFAIK there aren't any custom ROM's for the Intel based models but there are plenty of tweaks and utilities, at a minimum you should be able to root it and install viper4android which will take care of your EQ. Car Launcher Pro and CarWebGuru launcher are both pretty good launcher-wise.

Not sure on the bluetooth, but I'd suggest a USB OBD2 device like the OBDLink SX...there's probably 1000 threads on XDA by people who can't their bluetooth devices to work. I don't know if Joying does this, but some of the android head unit outfits are known to have code in their bluetooth stack so it will only pair/work properly with their own adapters (usually by requiring the device's bluetooth name to adhere to a specific naming convention, IIRC).

The Canadian dash trim is a single, large piece.

Super handy resource. I managed to root and get V4A installed, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I think I'll need to play around with a few more settings. Regarding the BT, it seems I'm having a different issue. Theirs seem to disconnect, whereas mine cuts out for half a second every few seconds

What audio source did you try it with? It won't affect the radio, as the sound from the tuner is handled by the MCU and not android...it should work on everything else though. With something other than the radio playing check 'Driver Status' in the viper menu and see if 'enabled' and 'processing' both say 'yes'. Also maybe check that 'master power' is on for whichever sound profile you are using...I think I just left mine on 'phone speaker', although the different profiles have some different options available and you can lock it to whichever you like best (settings-->lock effect mode). If it's working right it should make a pretty big difference.

Yeah, I kinda thought you probably had something different going on there.

For some reason when I turn on Master Power the music gets super stretched out, slowly. Not sure if you've ever dabbled in a digital audio workstation but it sounds like I took a sample and then stretched the tempo out. It's really, really weird. Only thing that I can assume is that it's still using the stock base EQ and they're interfering with one another somehow. Currently working with Joying and browsing some more threads to see what the hell is going on. I'm entirely too sick and stuffed up for this this week lol

After reading a few more threads it seems it's a problem super prevalent in the latest build, and should have a fix in the next update. Something about Google Play services in China or something or another, but that's a giant weight lifted since one of the main reasons I bought this HU was for better BT lol

That is pretty weird...I've had several different ROM's installed and never had a problem even with both EQ's processing at the same time. Though I have an older Rockchip MTCB unit and I don't know how different the software actually is.

I never had to do this on the car, but I know on some phones in order to get it to work you need to disable or get rid of one of the system audio files. If you have a root file manager installed try renaming
/system/etc/audio_effects.conf
to something else and rebooting. It may be somewhere else but I'm pretty sure that's where it usually is.

I forgot there is a dude with this model who got banned from XDA for some reason, he's got a long thread on Joying's forums. Might be something of interest there, he seems like he knows what he's doing:
