Toyota Factory Rep

Hi All,

Got invited into my dealership to meet with a Toyota factory rep, they stated that they are interested in buying my car back and would work with me if I wanted to get into a Toyota... I am interested to see what they have to say. Should have an update tomorrow. Anyone else gotten something like this? OR are they just trying to get me in to dazzle me with the new 86 :)

Not sure if you're trolling or not, but I'll humor it either way.

They're trying to sell you a new car. They aren't really interested in buying your car, they're interested in you buying a new car and giving them more money.

No, the nice salesman is sincere. The 2015 Firestorm FRS is really rare and they really need them in stock. It's important and they will pay top dollar. Really. The whole selling a you a new car isn't what it's really about- it really is all about the year end inventory clearance, volume makes the difference and they can get you in the car of dreams today. Really.

Think this through. Why would a Toyota "Factory Rep" have any interest in this world in buying back a used car? This is one of the oldest semi scams in the car sales world. Do not fall for the trick that the payments will be the "same" or "lower" Sure the payments may be but you all ready sucked up the deprecation on the car so the reality is you will actually lose a great deal of money in the process.

About twice a year I get a call or letter stating my 2008 Lancer GTS is in "very high demand" and they will pay me "well over book value" for it. This is particularly odd since they wouldn't even give me close to book value when I traded it into them in 2012. I guess demand has skyrocketed in the last 5 years.

Still getting offers on my '95 Dodge Grand Caravan. They're desperate!
Thing is, it was positively stellar doing things that I got it for.
Don't need a remotely located locker now though. Well, hmm...
Fk'n great service in the field.

They keep telling my wife they'll pay top dollar for her Dodge Ram because inventories are low!

(she's never owned a truck, let alone a Dodge Ram)

Better hurry and take them up on that offer before they realize she doesn't have one.

OP, there must be drugs or money in your car, take a close look. And DO NOT go to the dealership alone, they will take your kidneys.

I still get stuff like this for the Genesis Coupe the insurance co. peeled off a tree and hauled away, and for my wife's Prius that we traded in. We even get the occasional letter from Nissan saying they want our Versa we traded in 5 years ago. Because a Versa econobox is a rare and highly sought after car. really.

The cool thing though is that we keep getting the scratch off game cards too. We usually end up getting a crappy smart watch or a $5 gift cert to Wally World. But one time we ended up getting $45 in cash. If at some point a dealership offers to pay off my FRS (I am so upside down on that thing- I don't WANT to trade it in ever but if they were stupid enough to offer I'd have to really) I'd do it and start from scratch. So every time we get a game card, we play the game, get our swag and talk to the salesman.

I have a feeling that the car owned by the OP is a very rare beast having an even guage of paint all over.

BTW: I never get dealer invites!! Feel left out!! Feel lonely!!

gravitylover 12-09-2017 09:20 AM

I got one the other day from the local Dodge Dealer that wants the Challenger I had that got totaled a few years ago. They said they'd pay 200% of it's blue book value! What's 200% of nothing?
