GTX3076R compressor wheel question

Hello, I have a Speed By Design 500X kit with the GTX3076R turbo and I need to get a new compressor wheel. The fins on my turbo got bent when the housing came off in an accident. The housing seems to be completely fine. I cant seem to find the exact specs for this compressor wheel, if anyone could help me out that would be awesome.

Google "GTX3076R compressor wheel"......

I don't know why you would need exact specs.

Beyond that all the info you should need can be found (or at least should be) on the turbo itself.

Thanks for the input. So this technically should fit with the Speed by Design compressor housing?

It should.
Cheap insurance would be to contact SPD just to confirm.

I spoke to Chris about this already and they can only sell me the entire turbo assembly.

I talked to Chris a few months back. He had me assured that the SBD gtx3076 and the Garrett are pretty much interchangeable. So compressor wheel should be no problem to interchange.

Thanks for the info, I ordered one up from Taiwan. Supposedly that's where the SBD Turbo's come out of too.

My advice send it off to be repaired as it will need to be balanced. You could roll the dice but if your unlucky you will have a catastrophic failure and I mean catastrophic.

I just want to second what Justin said. You can't just bolt on a compressor wheel. The entire CHRA needs to be balanced since it spins upwards of 100,000RPM. That said, you may also have damage to the center housing shaft and/or bearings. The only type of "repair" I would consider on a turbo is to buy a fully assembled CHRA. If there is no significant damage to your turbine and compressor housings then you can reuse them. That said, most of the cost is in the CHRA anyway.

If you do try to simply bolt on that compressor wheel and reinstall the turbo you're risking massive damage to your engine as that wheel could completely let go sending chunks of aluminum through your engine.

3 good turbo rebuild shops I can think of off the top of my head are:

Forced performance in Texas
Performance Techniques in San Bernardino, CA
BoostLab in Florida

All of them pretty highly rated and trusted. If you're in California give Performance Techniques a try. They are pretty much the only consistent rebuild shop in the socal evo and sti scene for over 10 years and they use only garrett parts so they will be familiar with the components on your turbo.

I will definitely give Performance techniques a call. I already ordered up the wheel to speed things up a bit, if anything i'm sure that a local diesel turbo shop should be able to balance the turbo for me.

Just make sure they know what they are doing.

Also if you wanted to see some feedback from Performance Technique here is a lightly used facebook page but you get the point from the customer feedback.

I also forgot about this guy. Turbos-R-Us is also quite a popular choice in Socal as well. The guys name is Chris Robbins. Add yourself to his facebook group and check out his work and feedback.

No problem glad my I could help with my turbo wisdom. I came from the evo/mitsubishi world, car communities with factory turbo cars usually have list of known turbo rebuilders on hand. But we don't really have that info here for obvious reasons and I know how hard looking for this info can be.
