Thoughts?

Hi all,

Picked up a set of pretty beat up Fifteen52 Tarmacs for cheap and was thinking of getting them refinished for the BRZ.

I haven’t seen this setup a lot on our chassis but I do run a set on my S4 and I love them.

Curious to know what you think!
Cheers

The thing to consider is weight, width and offset and how that will impact the driving feelz. If you are ok with the change and you like styling go ahead.
Personally i like the clean simple design but it looks a bit thick to me on a twin. Along the same lines of 5 spoke simple design - unicorn Desmond Regas look more elegant. Just my opinion.

Do as you like :)

people usually unload beaten up rims due to them being out of round and that cannot be fixed. Even if it can be balanced with weights, it'll mess up your suspension.

If you didn't try those on and get them up to max speed before purchase, I would not put a dime into reconditioning them until you do. People look at rims as primarily a vanity item, but they are primarily SAFETY items.

Good point about the level of beat up. I took it more as cosmetically bad shape fiven that salt and ice does a number on the wheel finish up here.

Both very good points! I did drive the car they were installed on before my purchase to check for any wobble, shakes, etc... it does appear to be only cosmetic. Paint is peeling and slight curb rash.

I’m not too concerned about the weight, I take part in the occasional auto cross but that’s 1 or 2 times a year. More just curious about the wheel design on the car, the 5 spoke was not what I initially was wanting but it is growing on me!

Oh, I don't usually comment on wheels ........ but, with those, I don't think any amount of "refinishing" is going to make them look good on your BRZ ....... sorry.

I know this is hella old, but the fifteen52s are awesome on our car. Nice find.

Basically every Fifteen52 design looks lit on the twins

Not bad at all. I think it's impressive enough given that you got it for a cheap price.

I just picked up a cosmetically scratched up set of 17x9" tarmacs for $600 at the Subaru world's biggest meet today. What size tires you running?

Have those been refinished or were you just test fitting them? The design is okay, but I'm not into the white.

Wow, those wheels are crazy heavy. 26 pounds for 18x8.5s. My 18x8.5s are 17.3 pounds per wheel... I can't even imagine running something 5 pounds a wheel heavier than stock, going lighter really brings the car alive.
