GT Radial SX2?

I've seen a few people running these here and was looking for some input on them. I am looking at budget 200tw tires and will probably be autocrossing and dd on them maybe some track days.

Also I'm looking to move to a 17x9 wheel and the nearest size I see readily available is 235/45/17. I have seen 245/40/17 in pictures but not really online to buy.

Anybody know where to get that size? What dealer that ships these should I use?

Grip level is like Pilot Super Sports, so these are not true 200 tw tires. They do last a long time and should be decent in the rain.

How much are they?

If it's close to $150/tire, just buy one of the real 200tw.

They last a long time and have decent grip. You won't be competitive however if you are autocrossing competitively. 235 & 245 both work on a 9" wheel but I would go with 245/40 for less flex in the sidewall and more similar to stock ratio. I'm not familiar with which tire shops you can go to in your area but you can order the SX2 online or search on GT Radial's site for dealers.

Thats 235/45/17 which is not quite the size I wanted though but for that price something decent to have fun on...

I know some 86Cup guys have bought from them but be warned it is old stock with a fairly old manufactured date iirc. Don't think it has been an issue with anyone though.

Does anyone know have experience with these and the Federal 595 RS-RR? Looking for a cheap DDable 200TW tire.

They're exceptionally loud. The Bridgestone RE-71R are quieter.

And the RE-71R is not quiet...

Though the loudest tire I've ever ran was the BFG KDW2. Those were decent when I first got them, and quickly entered the 'WHAT?!' territory.

Just for the sake of clarification, I'm assuming that you meant that the Federal 595 RS-RR are louder than the RE-71R.

I just switched from RE-71R to the GT Radial SX2 and they're drastically less noisy on the freeway.

Yep. Those Federals are louder at 45 than my RE-71R were on the freeway.

They worked great on the Track.

Daily? I don't think they would be great. They definitely are noisy (think BEES the entire time at highway speed). Also, reviews often report that they don't handle rain well (risk of hydroplane). If you live in a drier climate, they could be passable.

Just listened to this podcast. (gt radial) 39 min mark talks about this tire.

Anybody running this tire in a 265/35/18? Wondering how they fit and if people have rubbing issues.
