Selling Old car back to DMV
 

So I need help understanding how this works..

Our family has an old Ford windstar and we need to get rid of it. There is something wrong with the transmission (will suddenly turn off when driving so you'd have to turn it back on. Even if its on the freeway) so we can't really sell it to another person.

A friend of mine has been telling me that I can sell the transmission to the DMV for whatever their offer is (varies apparently) and sell the chasis+its wheels to the Junk Yard.

I'm checking the DMV site and its showing a lot of 'SELL YOUR CAR to other people' listings.

why not just junk the transmission too?

Too bad they weren't able to get in while the "Cash for clunkers" program was going on. I agree, why don't they just junk the whole car?

I was told if you sold the Transmission to the DMV they'll take it for 2k-2.5k. Sell the body to Junk yard for like $100 or something.

Last I looked they only took 250$ if the transmission was still there.

Thats gotta be bogus...

Somethin' about smog. O_O I dunno but I gotta sell that junky ford windstar!:D
