Need advice on new wheel/tire details

Been doing nothing but research on (finally!) moding this car for a few days (yes my head is spinning) and first up is wheels and tires! This is a dd car and as much as I want to increase performance I do need to increase comfort a bit too and it seems like the wheels and tires should be a part of that. To this end I was going to keep a 17” wheel but am now debating between 7” or 8” width (depending on tire size chosen). Wheels will be between 14.0 and 15.7 lbs to shave some weight for numerous reasons obviously.

For tires I’m planning on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ but now I have 3 sizes I’m interested in and keep going back and forth on pros and cons of each!! 215/45/17 is of course an option but 225/45 seems good too for added comfort and maybe some grip at the cost of 0.9 lbs per corner. This would add just 1.3% to the rolling circumference and about 1/6” in height/width (all the way around).

Then thought maybe 245/40 on a 8” wide wheel could be fun. The rolling circumference and height would be between the 2 previous examples but closer to the stock 215, just much wider. Not real sure what impact that would have on comfort level though? Would still shave over a lb off each corner, have a wider rim, tire, and stance, and even slightly more sidewall for comfort...?

After typing this out I guess I’m leaning towards that wider size but I don’t know what affect this will have on comfort level? I’ve read mixed reviews (as always). Help!

Oh, and btw I’m currently running stock wheels with 215/45/17 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus

Guess I should mention that we plan on throwing some money at this thing pretty quick and getting it over 250 hp w/ a sc and other mods as well as cutting unsprung / rotational mass. So it will need to handle that while still getting as much comfort as possible out of it. Not as much worried about track times and such just pure fun on the road with occasional fun track days.
