New to the import scene
 
Hi all. I'm an Old School Big Block Mopar Car enthusiast, I'm stepping to the unknown with my 2013 Scion FR-S. I've been watching the forum for awhile and looking for tips and tricks. I'm not going to go all out on it but just want a little more performance out of it.

Welcome! Good choice for your first import! Most will suggest going with a header + tune first if you're looking for a little more oomph. Here is a good Bang-for-your-buck option: http://www.openflashtablet.com/shop/...combo-package/

Comes with the tablet with various tunes as well as a uel header.

Good thing is... it's just a car. Upside is, you can enjoy it and upgrade it without being part of the "import scene". It's a lot of fun. Downside is, you miss out on import models. Maybe that's not a downside... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I see some are using OFT and some using ecutek. How do they compare against each other?

OFT is cheap and easy with good results if you don't want to spend a ton. "off the shelf tunes" such as: "93 octane uel" "e85 el" "e85 uel" etc.

ECUtek is more expensive, However, you will have a lot more options for tunes and the ability to load tunes that are designed specifically for the mods that you have in your car. (good choice especially if you are planning to add boost in the future)

That is basically it if you want someone else to make your car faster. If you are planning on doing any of it yourself there are other things to consider between them. Not sure how far into performance increase you want to get.

Alternatively, I'm under the impression that V8s fit under the hood quite well if you decide to go old-school again. :thumbsup:

Import 'scene'. Now you have to vape, wear skinny jeans and overpriced sneakers like 'yeezy's, with an instagram account dedicated to your car along with a basket of detailing supplies in your trunk at all times to keep your ride fresh for photo ops, "son!" Welcome!
