Owner's Test Drive in Houston?

This may be my first post and this car being in short supply test drives aren't really available. Is there anyone with a 6MT willing to take me for a spin or let me tryout their car? I'm in the market for a new daily and wanted to see how the manual feels compared to the auto. I test drove the auto from Mike Calvert but am still on the ropes. I'll be willing to offer up one of my own cars as a drive trade what not if anyone is willing. Thanks!

Any body? I guess I'll end up getting a S2K CR if I can't try out a manual FR-S / BRZ. Gonna give it another go at the dealer tomorrow and see if their listing isn't bogus. Just thought I'd give this a bump.

If you ever happen to visit the north Dallas area, I'd be happy to take you for a spin and let you get a feel of mine. :)

I'll be in Irvine / Frisco the weekend of the 29th / 30th. I might take you up on that offer.

I understand. I only let certain people drive my cars as well. I have an idea how the car feels as far as driving but I wanted to feel the gear box and clutch since I've only been able to try the auto. Thanks again though.

Sounds good... I'll be attending a HPDE @ Cresson on both of those days, BUT I'll be driving back home after the completion of each day and will be back by around 7 pm on each of those days. Frisco would be much closer to my home, so we could meet just south of Frisco (5-10 minutes away), and that would make it a bit easier on me.

No worries, we'll make it happen for you. :)

Feel free to send me a PM when you're ready, and I'm pretty good about responding in a timely manner.

There is a raven MT in Galveston that has been for sale quite some time.

Also when I was shopping around 2 weeks ago there were 3 MTs in Spring. They let me test drive a hot lava. The asphalt had 19" rims on it and they wanted close to 30k for it. :barf:

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely head up there this Sunday. Hopefully they still have them so I can try it. I went to Sterling today and the guy said that their cars aren't for test driving and that I can take a look at them if I want but no test drives. :iono: I was really confused and just left.

I snatched the one from Galveston, sorry, and the one at Sterling McCall was sold recently so that's why they wouldn't let anyone touch it. There'll be a 6mt BRZ limited arriving at Gilman Subaru in the coming week and a half (they want 29k) if you can convince those knobs to let you touch it.

Having been able to borrow a friend's AP2 for a day a couple weeks ago, I can tell you that the throw of the shifter and the clutch feel surprisingly similar to the FR-S, but the S2000's engine has quite a bit more life to it though :iono:

Don't take it personally, think about 20 people test driving and all passing on it or saying they want one with as close to zero miles as possible? What you have after a couple weeks is now a used vehicle that will be sold as new.

It's cool of them to refuse tire kickers, but also hurts them. In the end though it ultimately benefits the eventual buyer more than it hurts you. Drive one elsewhere then go back and buy it from the guys who were protecting the mileage.

OP: If you'll be in my area this Friday, I'll be free after my work (late afternoon - early evening), otherwise Saturday / Sunday evening after 7 pm and before 9 pm would work best for me.

Let me know...

I'll be there Fri / Sat / Sun. I won't mind maybe going out to the track day on Saturday if it's possible for people just to go check it out. I'll send you a PM with my info on it.

I don't take it personally at all. The car was sold anyway and I'm not sure if he was refering to that car or to future cars.

I also ended up going to Fred Haas and they wanted me to put in a credit app. They were like we don't let just any kids walk into a dealer and test drive the FR-S. Funny how I didn't have that much trouble when I went to Porsche. They even gave me a pass for a driving event thats the first weekend in Oct. Maybe it's because I took my 93 accord instead of my RS4...

Texas BRZ 09-25-2012 10:10 AM

PM replied... See you soon, Tuan. :)

*EDIT*

Yes, I think the track event that I'm attending with is welcoming of folks who want to visit and spectate (about 1 hour away from Frisco, though).

Let me know if you want additional info on it...
