Seat wear
You know the side of our seats, that vinyl stuff? I have a tint little corner kind of worn right where your butt slides across when sitting into the seat. It was there since I got it (CPO) but I kind of just overlooked it but now since it's like the only cosmetic thing wrong inside, it's started bothering me and the dealer says it's not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty because it's a wear item. First off, is a seat really a wear item and if so what can I do you repair it?

OK, how about plan "B" ......... :) humfrz |
1. scour junkyards/auctions for a new one
2. get seat covers - there are some really good looking ones out there (look up Clazzio) 3. those $10~20 walmart fix kits 4. go to another dealer and see if they can fix it since you're still under warranty 5. live with it |
Mine is missing a chunk about 2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide where the seat belt buckle got caught between the seat and the door and I just yanked it free. I keep meaning to grab a repair kit but never get around to it. I have used the kits before with pretty good success.

for real, I would first remove the cover from the seat and separate the stitch between the vinyl and the cloth fabric with a seam ripper.
Then I'd do a kick-ass repair on the vinyl with Tcoat's goop and sew it back together. I don't know where the side bag comes out but I'd try to take the relative strength of the seam into account when sewing it back together. |

Did you look closely at the OP's picture .... ?? His little nick is no bigger than a grain of corn ........ :sigh: By the time he tore off the seat cover, as per your suggestion, and gooped it up, as per @Tcoat 's suggestion, and got it back on the seat, it would look like the bed spread on the bed of a pay by the hour motel room ....... humfrz - off to make ma nap :scared0016: |

edit: actually, it's in a pretty vulnerable spot based on how one enters the car. The tear will strain more with each cycle and the frayed hole increases the likelihood of something else snagging it. ...not as funny but imho... I'd probably start with the sharpie too. |
