Traction control activating in 3rd and 4th gear...

Hey guys, I seem to be having an issue with my 2017 BRZ, which has crept up yesterday and persists today.

On the highway, in 3rd and 4th year, at above 3/4 throttle to WOT, traction control seems to be activating (with the light flashing rapidly on the dash) as I am accelerating, limiting power. I should note that the car is completely stock save for a catback, and I do have adequate grip in these situation.

I did have winters swapped onto the car for the first time as of this past weekend, so I'm not sure if the smaller wheels (BBS 16's on 205/55r16 WinterContact Si's) are causing issues, or if the tire shop potentially messed something up with a wheel sensor.

If anyone has any tips they can share, that would be awesome.

I don't have any technical knowledge on this subject, but tell all your friends that your car breaks loose in 3rd and 4th

Guessing the different size combined with soft compound is just too much for TC to handle. Just drive in track/sport mode :)

You need a Zero Point Calibration thingamabob done.

I ran that tire size for two years in the winter. I never had that specific issue, but it was easy to freak out the Ctability Control by just wiggling the wheel back and forth ever so slightly. Winter tires are soft, and winter tires combined with the taller 205/55 sidewall meant that the tires deflected so much before the car actually began to turn, that the Stability Control would step in thinking the car had actually lost grip and was understeering. I even have an old video of it:

Having said that, I never remember having any issues while simply accelerating, unless the rear tires had actually broken loose. You did change all FOUR tires over, and not just the fronts or rears, right? Are you sure they are properly inflated? If all that is correct, I would think either an alignment issue, or indeed a damaged sensor during install...
