5th gear grinding got worst

Took my FR-S into the dealership a couple months ago because my 5th gear would grind, and they replaced this.

And a few days later after I got the car back the grinding returned, and a month later and the grinding is now worse than before.

So take it back. What they changed would not affect grind.

Well, without looking up those parts, I would agree with @Tcoat ....... it looks like they just patched around the problem.

@Ultramaroon , what do you think .. ??

I agree with you guys. Looks like they removed the extension housing, poked around a bit, and replaced a couple parts that didn't look brand new.

Nothing to do with gear grind.

Fuckers didn't even changed the tranny oil.
Unless it's not listed to which I say take it back either way.

just get some motul transmission fluid and tell them to put that in.

How old and what year/how many mile you have on your frs? if it's pretty old and just started doing that then it's a different story.

What’s funny is that the service rep told me the synchros was replaced until the end, but then I got the papers and noticed that they didn’t replaced it but since the grinding was gone I didn’t even mention it.

could it be they were attempting to fix 5th & not ---> (fifth).

lmao the effort to spell the other numbers

stevesnj 11-01-2017 10:58 AM

Take it back until it's not worst.

Make sure they used the correct oil. I went to a Scion/Toyota dealership for warranty transmission work and they refilled the transmission with Subaru GL5 transaxle lube. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
