I'd like to try out our GTS86 with the steering lightened up a little. Is there a simple way to do it e.g. by a voltage adjustment somewhere?

Easy, adjust your flux capacitor to 1.20 gigawatts...DO NOT go up to 1.21 though obviously.

What do you mean by "lightened up" .. ??

If you want it to steer easier ..... simply increase the tire pressure in the front tires ......;)

I phoned around and everyone is fresh out of flux capacitators until a couple of years in the future.

Thanks but I could have said I already tried the pressure trick. I also tried water injection on the front tires.:lol:

The flux capacitor has clearly been around since 1985. It is getting the plutonium to power it that is the tough part.

Decrease your positive caster angle.

Probably cheaper to just hit the gym.

If you have Techstream there is a calibration process you can go through. If you could do something to add more resistance to the wheels during this process it my cause it to bump up the assist a little which would make the wheel lighter. I was thinking maybe something as simple as parking on a hill where more weight is on the front wheels than normal. I went through this process just to see how it worked and when I did it I was parked on my slanted driveway with the rear down and after doing this I am fairly sure my wheel feels stiffer. Could be my imagination though.

I’ve had DOT-Rs on some of my past cars and the wheels got super heavy due to the extra grip. I’ve not driven the FRS with race tires but it would be interesting to do a before and after calibration to see if it compensates for the tires.

Edit: Maybe take the opposite advice of humfrz’s and bag your tires before doing a calibration?

Totally opposite from topic:

I've wanted to see what it would be like to have a manual steering rack...as the current electrically assisted steering is too light just off center.


I have driven my car, couple of times, for quite a distance, with the ignition key in the off position. Steering is then quite heavy. I've wondered if this is bad for the car ? As I'd like to try it some more, but with the engine running...Maybe get used to it. Assume there is a fuse for the electric assist. Wonder what other's thoughts are on this subject ?



I also believe I've read steering assist is slightly different for the MY 2017 models. Wonder if anyone has compared that, driving a car, to the pre 17 models ?


I drove my car on winding country roads just yesterday. Again reminded myself that this is the most wonderful car I've ever owned...and that I don't think there's anything out there I'd like better as something which fits me like an Italian shoe. Not at any price. Am I crazy ? My B-day tomorrow, age 71 so watch out.

If you you enter the steering calibration process with Techstream and then cancel the process it will disable PS completely. The ratio on this box is super high so it’s hard as hell to turn when stationary.

Eh, why? I felt it could be a little heavier. One of my favorite steering-feel cars, the NC Miata (i know, supposedly this is the marshmellow of the miata world but i always loved them) would be my benchmark.

It turns quite quickly to lock, so its always going to be a bit heavy.

That's probably against the law in Australia.
