Broken Window Help!
Hi,
So after my window was smashed I placed an order for a replacement window at Subaru.. and me and my friend attempted to replace it.. The problem was after we took off the door panels and everything .. we were testing the power windows but it turns out the window 'frame'(? I dont know how to word it) does not move at all.. Electricity is reaching the motor but it doesnt seem like anything is jammed.. and there seems to be no response from the motor. Another thing I should point out is that the window 'mount' was not in the window railing.. It came off of the railing at the top when we first looked at it.. I do remember accidentally pushing the window up button for it though.. Any ideas at all? Anything would be helpful Thanks |

Only in America...well, North America. |
Look in the factory service manual in the DIY section. Ignore those telling you to just bring it to the dealer. You shouldn't be afraid of your car!

^^^ +1 There is a function to reset the window motors, most likely they got jammed and automatically shut down to prevent damage. It is a function that has to do with the windows rolling down a bit when you open the door to prevent damage to the window molding. There is a section in the manual that tells you how to reset the motors if the rolldown function stops working.

I think some of you guys missed Zex's previous thread where his window got smashed by a thief and took his ipod and air freshener. Obviously the dealership wont help him out under warranty. Depending where you bought your glass the supplier is often well equipped to help you at way less than dealership prices. If you had a low deductible you could have chose to use insurance too?
