GTA Mechanic Recommendations

Hello all,

Wanted to ask where you guys/gals get your vehicle serviced. Car is at 80,000km now and I would like to get some sort of full check done to see if anything is about to explode or implode or wtv.

However.. I have zero trust for dealerships (Don't want children driving my car at all even if it is to bring it from the parking lot to the back shop) and will not go to a random mechanic....I know some of you must have "a guy"... please point me in the direction of such guys. Thank you.

I've used the following:

Junction Auto (Scarborough):
Ken Wong owns and runs the place. Good guy, good prices but the shop is small. He also runs the Junction Chumpcar race team and he is insanely efficient doing pitside mechanical work. He will understand what you need if you track your car. He specializes in Hondas but works on all sorts vehicles. I now take my S2000 to him since he's literally 3 blocks from my house.

Speedstar (Markham)
This is larger shop than Junction and also considerably more posh. They used to work primarily on any normal vehicles but since picking up steady qualifications for dealership work from several exotic lines, they've considerably amped up their work to pretty much European exotics but will still happily do work for peasants like us. I used to exclusively use them because their work was very good, always traceable (paperwork) and you always got accurate feedback. However, they weren't cheap but not stupidly priced either. They also race two Porsche GT3s. I stopped taking my vehicle to them because I'd always incur a $60-70 Uber charge shuttling back and forth to the shop. Plus Junction is cheaper and I know Ken pretty good.

Dave's Garage (Oakville)
Working out of Dave's shop is Chris Kinnealy who runs Burning Rubber and Speed which is a tire shop. Dave also employs Alessandro Bellardo who is an alignment guru and they have the equipment to do alignments. This makes Dave's a literal one stop shop for EVERYTHING you need for track days or just regular maintenance. Prices are pretty decent and all three folks do time attacks so they know the criticality of doing the job right. I personally compete again Alex at OTA and he's fun to drive against (RX8).

Anyone know a reputable shop in Vaughan?

Prices are pretty decent .

What they're asking for with respect to alignments is too high, IMO. NV Auto (well technically NOT GTA) is much more affordable in this respect.

Prices for extreme performance tires from Chris were unbelievably low, fortunately.

I'm the same as you. On this platform, I prefer to do everything on my own. However if I ever have issues or need some major maintenance my choices would be iGarage or Touge Tuning.

My only issues with Touge Tuning is sometimes the wait times are too long. Like last time I asked him for something he told me he was booked all month which was annoying. It's a amazing shop though...for big things like suspension work or installing superchargers etc....I'd only go to them!

But for more simple things I'd go to IGarage. Which I haven't even gone to yet but I have heard a lot of good things about them.

I also own 2 Honda's & a Volvo currently.
Since the Honda Accord & Volvo S90 are new and under warranty, I just take them to the dealers.
The Honda Fit, I haven't had any issues, but if I ever do I'll be taking it to IGarage if I won't be able to fix it myself.

Oh yeah, NV Auto is one of the best places for alignments in my opinion.

NV auto has the best prices for alignment but like you said, not GTA.

Almost everyone I know in the GTA does alignments for the same price as Dave's. That's the going rate for me anyways. He charges the same as Speedstar does so I haven't felt any difference in my wallet.

What does Dave charge for alignments? I've only gone to can-alignment or clarington Hyundai (there's a guy there that is an avid autocrosser and does proper alignments to your specs, ask for Kris).

$150 taxes in.

Speedstar does it for $123.89 plus taxes which means roughly $140.

For alignment if you're west end altech has been good $80 cash and will do whatever you ask and make adjustments that I have always found accurate when I've gone to other alignment facilities.
For repairs (also does alignments) on the east end Enrique @ Driven is the go to for a lot of my friends. He's fairly priced and owns a brz as well so knows them inside out!

My best bet is with Touge Tuning, chill group of guys and amazing work all around.

Hi everyone,

I know this is an old thread but asking for a friend who recently moved to the GTA. He's looking for any shops that works on Toyota/Subaru for some suspension work. Thanks in advance!

If you're west end try XIIImotorsport they deal with a lot of 86/brz, east end, I'm not sure. Check some of the suggestions above.
