The knob is smooth delrin plastic, with red anodized aluminum base. I really liked the feel on the hand, I put the OEM one back on in prep for selling the car and I didn't like it at all!

How is the surface condition of the knob? I ask because I've been using a friend's white one for some time now and saw that it seems to get scratched up relatively easily

You've got PM.

Surface condition of the knob is like new, I can't speak for the white one but maybe the black one just hides any scratches. I've had this knob on my STI and then my BRZ, and it honestly still looks new.
