Bolt Pattern Woes

Ok.. so I don't have a BRZ/FR-S, but I'm in love with the car. I plan on eventually getting one so I'm already plotting and planning and one thing has me anxious... the odd choice in bolt pattern for this car. I don't know why Toyota/Subaru chose 5x100 for this car instead of the much more prevalent 5x114 or 5x120. I've already found several wheels that I'd like that are not offered in 5x100.

So the question is... do we think that the FT-86 platform will be popular enough that wheel manufacturers will begin offering the size in more of their designs?

5x100 was the size with 2000-2005 VWs and there was tons of selection. So I'd imagine if it becomes popular again the wheel brands would be crazy not to jump on board. But it takes time, and hopefully some other models will use it as well (any of the upcoming small cars)

Subaru WRX is the answer.... 5x100. ;)

Lots of wheels in the works with the right offsets for this platform.

I'm having to keep this in mind with lots of other parts too, patience is key when dealing with a new model i don't want to end up buying the same parts multiple times from different manufacturers.

The Celicas from the same time period also use the 5x100 PCD.

I was used to the problem of finding good lightweight 5x100 years ago when I drove Neons, but back then the issue was with finding light 14" or 15" wheels. Thankfully there are years of VW and Subaru cars that used 5x100 years in similar sizes, so there are at least some wheel models available, although not nearly as widespread as 5x114 (or 4x100).

I really like the Konig SSM wheels.... hoping they come out with a 5x100 pattern.

When I was searching... I literally found hundreds of choices in 5x100. Tirerack alone had like 235 different wheels to choose from.

not really, when you subtract out the wheels that are exactly the same but offered in different colors.

Yes, yes, but still a choice nonetheless. I saw quite a few when I was looking that I'd have liked better in a different color but only came one way.

Hope you find a good set you like...

I, however, managed to find 5 I really liked and then began eliminating one by one til I got the the set I ordered up... and yes, yes, it needs a drop... and cleaned... The wheels were only on for like 5 minutes and it was raining...

How do you search like that on TireRack? I can search for tires by size but for wheels they seem to restrict how you can search (you have to put in a make/model and then it gives you limited choices).

Anyway, I'm looking to go lighter and smaller, 16s probably (but something that makes the rear at least flush with the fenders). Looks are a secondary concern.
