slavcyl piston lube/goo?
 

Hey all,
I started getting a squeaky noise out of the top of the transmission a couple weeks ago.
kidnapped a friend, and had them press on the clutch while the hood was popped to see where the noise was coming from. Best I can tell, it seems like it was coming from the slave cylinder, and it also appears to be missing some what I assume to be lube.
I am a phenomenally lazy Googler, but I did a quick search and couldn't find much other than "sometimes it happens." Anyone have any idea what kind of lube this should be, and if I apply new lube, if I should clean off the original stuff (if yes, with what?)

Appreciate the humor part of it, but this is definitely coming from the slave cylinder area pictured above, and not from any of the wheel areas. Any other thoughts?
I'll try to get a sound clip of it over the next few days.

Nope. It isn't. BTW, if you just compress the plunger in the slave by pulling forward on the fork, you can get a couple seconds of looseness where you can jiggle the fork in the main pivot.

That'll get you on the right track.

First result in that search ultra linked is for the slave cylinder. At least it works on my machine.

2. Remove the dust boot from the fork.
3. Reach down behind the fork with a finger and feel for the pivot. It's going to be tight because of the retaining clip.
4. Squeeze a decent glob of Lucas Red & Tacky #2 in there with your finger.
5. Jiggle the fork to distribute the grease as much as possible. It'll work in more on its own.
6. Put a dab of grease in the top pivot where the slave pin goes.
7. Reassemble."

Lol. No offense taken. There's always a possibility that the creak you hear is different from the at least 10 others I've personally witnessed.

I'll give you that it sounds like it comes from up high. Others will swear it comes from inside the cabin.

Especially since he figured out the mention tags and it worked!

When I first heard it, I thought it came from the cabin, then the guy who helped me first locate it said it was definitely coming from the engine bay.
