Toshiba on the Cusp of EV Battery Capable of 200 Miles of Range Six-Minute charge

This would be big news if true.

Toshiba on the Cusp of an EV Battery Capable of 200 Miles of Range after Six-Minute Charge

Toshiba’s solution aims to cut the recharge time drastically, to just six minutes for a 32-kWh pack good enough for an estimated 200 miles of driving range in a “compact EV.” The company doesn’t clarify whether that six-minute juice represents the battery’s full charge or a partial charge like Tesla’s 30-minute blast. Either way, that range is roughly equivalent to the distance one could cover with an 80 percent charge in the (larger than compact) Tesla Model S with either the 85- or 90-kWh battery pack.

That's amazing news. I'd actually be interested in getting something like that for my daily then.
Either this, or the ability to hot-swap the battery packs (I believe Tesla is trying to do this) would instantly make EVs much more accessible to average folks.

I think battery technology will improve greatly in the next ten years. More electronic companies like Samsung and Toshiba are creating batteries to be able to license their tech knowing the demand is coming. Here is another promising article:

Considering my Toshiba laptop had issues from the get-go, I'm not sure if I really trust Toshiba. My other Toshiba laptop wasn't very reliable either.

Lol but they still got your business a second time? Work issued?

Nope. Got that one for free. Lol. Had to send it back to them since it had booting issues. Resolution on the invoice paper said it was missing a part. WTF!? How does a laptop leave a factory without a (critical) part? Like what kind of QC system do they have?

That’s odd.

I can’t say I have any knowledgeable experience with Toshiba. I bet some cars already have Toshiba parts in them. Maybe a seat belt or control unit or air bag or some other licensed part. Maybe not.

Oh, I'm sure every car has at least one part made by Toshiba. I'd rather just think/hope it isn't something super important. Haha

Laptops are about as low on the product stack as far as Toshiba (as a company) is concerned.

Really? It's their one product I see most of.

Of course, that's their visible product in the end user space.

I mean, they make hydro/thermal/nuclear power plants. That should tell you a thing or two about them.

I'm not surprised that Toshiba wants to make a heavy push in this field, it has huge benefits for a country like Japan, especially if they can get battery or recharging technology to the point where traditional power distribution infrastructure can be removed. Many existing railways can be improved or upgraded without adding overhead power lines, a huge plus in Japan.

Okay, yeah, I'd rather have them skimp on the laptops and focus on those instead. Haha

Well, seeing how their nuclear power plant business has almost bankrupted the company forcing the sale of assets like their profitable memory business, they have to be looking for new businesses!;)

Will this save Toshiba from bankruptcy?
