LOL that's almost just a list of the current Toyota and Lexus lineup!

How did you miss the Audi!!! This has to be the first time in world history anyone put a german car on a list of most reliable cars.!!! Seriously that is stunning.

Yeah, these cars are very reliable. Just the 2013 had some issues but they pretty much all got sorted out in 2014.

I'm actually surprised to not see any Honda on the list. I own 2 currently and have no issues.

It's pretty much a given that a Honda will be reliable (maybe not the safest), but even a new model year Accord, civic, etc. will be reliable. They get good MPG. Besides those two things, Honda's are a dime a dozen over here... buzzing around like a swarm of wasps... flies.....insects..... The '90's Honda's are really starting to show their age the last 3-5 years , but lots of 2000+ Honda's rolling around, it's like Honda central over here, even S2K.... boring. I get semi-excited now when I see a NSX

honda's are mediocre now. Nothing like the 1970-1995 legacy they had. No concerns about the sedans, the suv's have had severe issues, but nothing to brag about in any fashion. Mazda has left them in the dust, so has hyundai, kia, and obviously toyota.

I think the BRZ is so reliable due to the fact it is so basic. Not much to go wrong in a car meant for just driving.

From CR wording:

"At its limits, the BRZ is slightly more forgiving than its mechanical sibling, the Toyota 86 (the old Scion FR-S)."

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the handling of both cars, base versions, identical since the 2015 MY ?

If I'm correct, then CR has stuck with wording relating to tests they did some years ago.
Have they tested BRZ vs 86 recently ?

Personal opinion: CR can be just so lame at times. In the past they rated our cars as not so reliable, I think, based on their initial findings of the cars produced early on (2012). Finally, 5 1/2 years later they've given us a break. Possibly this might help our used car values...and send more new car buyers to this platform.

Earlier cars ('12-'13) had different reliability issues. It makes sense that our cars didn't make it to the list at that time.

The 2013's had quite a few issues. And I'm pretty sure the spring rates are different still between the two cars, if not the suspension tuning. For outright handling I still think the 2013 FRS is the best.

Not when a Ford Focus is considered one of the least reliable...

Then again, CR had the BRZ and FRS at different reliability ratings when they're the exact same car mechanically (and literally come off the same assembly line).

Consumer Reports December 2017 issue. page 57. (0-100 point scale) (average score ranges from 41-60)

Personal thoughts about this survey: The Made in Poland Buick is a crudely designed, underpowered, poor handling. The only thing sporty about it is that it's a convertible.
I believe they've now downgraded the Mazda MX5 as there have been problems with it's (newer than the old Miata) manual transmission.
